Can you give me feedback? UC personal statement Prompt 1

My mother always told me that a baby was a blessing. She would constantly tell me that even though we were going to struggle, this baby was coming to our lives for a reason. My heart was full of anger and resentment, because I didn’t want a baby who would make our lives more difficult. I was sure he was the opposite of a blessing.
Six months after he was born he began to have seizures. Right before my eyes he would begin to shake helplessly. Each time he had these attacks I’d call the ambulance, but each time I did I became so sad and so helpless. We were in the hospital most days, and I’d sit there blaming myself for what he was going through. I knew this baby had no fault.
We were always in and out of the hospital, each time without any answers. Every day I sat at home watching my brother praying he wouldn’t have another seizure. It broke my heart to see his little body go through so much pain. During my freshman and sophomore year I completely lost my focus in school. Passing was enough for me, but with the situation at home I found it so hard to think about anything else but my brother. I felt guilty, paranoid, and powerless. I wished I could take the place of his doctor and look into his case so I could help him myself. I knew that the effectiveness of a doctor could make a big difference and save his life. In the month of July, the summer after my junior year, we met with a new pediatrician. She referred us to a neurosurgeon who was concerned with his case. Tests were done and we had answers. My brother had two cysts in his brain, the seizures caused a lot of damage on the left side of his brain. These two doctors gave us the results we were searching for for two years in two weeks. My brother was a living miracle
This experience inspired me to get my life back together, and try my best in school. I knew that I wanted to bring hope back into peoples’ lives, just as these doctors brought hope into mine. When I become a doctor, I would be the best resource to whoever stepped into my office. I want to be the best in everything I do. I want to make people feel as if they can give me all their trust because I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make them feel reassured. If I became a pediatrician I would take the time to listen to the patients’ questions, and also discuss problems they are worried about. I enjoy working with children, and it is my dream to help them to the best of my abilities. Avoiding health issues at a young age is better than putting it off until later. I want to be quick and look into each individual’s case before it is too late. I motivated and determined to become an effective pediatrician.
