Prompt: Should people take more responsibility for solving problems that affect their communities or the nation in general? Plan and write an essay…
In today’s US economy, many problems and issues come up nearly every day. Small communities and large communities both experience troubles frequently in daily life. However, as shown through real-life issues, people should take more responsibility for solving problems that affect the nation in general, rather than local communities.
One of the biggest issues in the US is the job market. For example, in 2015, almost 10 percent of the US population was unemployed. Although many small communities experience this same issue, it is society’s responsibility to make sure that all people living in the United States can make a living, not just petite cities. The US would be better off trying to resolve an issue that would help everyone, not just a portion of the country.
Secondly, gun control in the US has been a frequent problem throughout the years. In 2001, several high school students shot and killed some of their fellow students at Columbine High School In 2010, a man wreaked havoc at a movie theater in Oregon. Recently, another shooting that led to the deaths of 10 students occurred at an Oregon community college. Local governments tightened the use of guns in these cities where the shootings occurred. However, throughout the nation, there has still been many similar incidents, which shows that the government should solve the issue of gun control as a whole. Local governments feel safer from guns, but the nation as a whole does not benefit from it.
As shown through the previous examples, people should take more responsibility for solving problems that affect the nation as a whole, not just local communities. Although solving problems of a community will benefit a certain area, the nation as a whole will not. When people solve problems globally, we are destined to make fewer mistakes.
