Senior year classes that i am taking:

Honors pre-cal

I assume that Japanese 3 is considered honors so I think you would have a 3.5 based on just the academic courses, weighting .5 for honors. I did not count your electives because I don't think FSU does either. Please correct me if I am wrong.

great now i just need a 27 on my September 15 ACT, and i'll have a fair chance.

If your are in the state of Florida, your Foreign Language is probably not honors, and FSU does not weight for languages other than AP. You can check with admissions to be sure.

I would definitely check with admissions because I seem to recall that anything above level II foreign language is considered honors in our Florida public high school but I could definitely be wrong.

Are you sure that they calculate classes taken before high school (your 8th grade earth science) in your GPA? Our high school only lists the middle school classes and credit earned on the transcript but dosen't add the grade into our high school GPA). My kids went to private school...they had regular AND honors level for foreign language over the first level.

Tomato, why didn't you take Physics or forensics which is usually the final course of the Science sequence?

SEICLAN - some public middle schools are now offering a few high school level courses such as HONORS EARTH SCIENCE, HONORS ALGEBRA I and HONORS GEOMETRY. Also, some students take high school courses through Florida Virtual School www.flvs.net.

I just checked the curriculum guide from my son's public high school and it says "SPANISH III is an automatic weighted honors course and requires honors level work." This is also true for PRECALCULUS, it does not say HONORS but they count it as honors. I am assuming JAPANESE III would be the same. Still check with FSU admissions to be sure.

didn't take physics because i'm horrible at math.will that really hurt me?

ok, i think i may drop philosophy honors for physics honors.

Cybermom- Yes, I know about the high school classes in middle school (my son is taking Spanish 2 and honors geometry this year in eighth grade public school), but I didn't think that the grade went into their high school GPA. We were told that they simply get 1 credit per high school class for high school (as long as they got a B or higher) but that the grade did not go on their high school transcripts.

In our high school they do count all high school course grades in their GPA even if the course was taken in middle school or through Florida Virtual School.

I don't think so, maybe the exception would be if your on a technical vector for a major. Your Math marks seem to be reasonable and by my estimation not terrible.

I think lots of kids bag the last year of science and math, while not a negative per say it's just an opportunity to get a plus for taking that stronger schedule.

BTW being an engineer, HS physics isn't that Math challenging, most of it is plug and chug, knowing how to setup the problem and the formula's is the greater problem for most kids.
