Can you guys explain the differences between Winter and Spring Admits?

Why are there two admits? Can someone post some information about this? I don’t know why there are two.

Winter Admits can begin classes in the Winter Quarter (January). Spring Admits start classes in March or April.

Do you get to choose if you want Spring or winter? Also are most people Winter or Spring admit. and how many are admitted to each(average).
Advantages and disadvantages?

No. No. Don't know. Yes there are disadvantages and advantages.

I may be wrong, but i believe the difference between Winter/Spring Admit comes from the school's system. Quarter System- 3 regular terms a year, fall/winter/spring. Semester System- Fall/Spring semester. With regard to the UCs, all the UCs are on the quarter system except Berkeley; so a spring admit would only refer to Berkeley, while a winter admit would refer to rest of the UCs on the quarter system. Both would probably start within the same month ( winter quarter starts in early january, ends in late march/ spring semester starts in late january- ends in early may)

Actually, I know someone that was accepted to UCLA for spring quarter
