Iraqi embassy! that sounds cool. your school seems legit, so your “low” GPA is excusable as you are taking a loaded course. however, if you want to get into the top schools, you need to raise your SAT above 2200, period.

JHU-most likely in
UCLA-in
Penn-reach
UCLA- in
Northwestern–match
Cornell–match
UM-safety

Why? Mainly because the SAT is a little low as it stands (with a better score your chances go up), because being OOS for UCLA means it is very difficult to get in, and because all of these schools are incredibly selective.

Your GPA doesn’t matter so much in comparison to your class ranking. If you are top 10%, increase the percentages I gave you by a lot. If you are top 5%, your chances go waaay up. But if you are top 25% or top 20% I would say most of these schools (other than UMD) are reaches. I do think, though, that you will get into at least one of the schools on your list other than UMD.

Northwestern- hi match
Cornell–reach
UM-match

Your SAT’s need to go up by at least 100 points for a better chance. You should get another safety in there and another match - University of Rochester?

I think you have a good shot at all of your schools, especially since you’re a legacy at a lot of them. I don’t really get what your school does with its grading system, but colleges don’t care about your middle school grades so I’m sure they will factor those out and recalculate your GPA. My advice would also be to try to get more leadership positions and maybe some more academic EC’s.

Anyway:
JHU- match (legacy)
UCLA- low reach (out of state has an impossible acceptance rate)
Penn- high match (penn loves their legacies…)
Cornell- low reach
USC- high match
Northwestern- probably in (legacy)
Maryland- definitely in

thanks i think your chances are a little too generous
no class rank, thank god because my school is ultra competitive and 25% of kids have WGPAs above 4.5
