Can you help me find match schools with highly regarded economics departments please!

Hi all. After researching colleges to apply too, I feel that I am only attracted to so called safety and reach schools. I am nearly positive that I want to major in economics and the one school I know that I will apply to is UW Madison. My GPA is 3.98--the one B was in the hardest class in the school-- and my ACT is 31, which I will retake. My main EC is wrestling, which I have dedicated myself to all throughout high school and I am now captain of the team, even though I only started freshman year. I did volunteer work and lived in Paraguay for 6 weeks this summer, and while it was an amazing experience, I feel that it doesn't set me apart from other applicants. I would be more than happy to answer any of your questions, but I would like to hear recommendations of match to low reach schools with a strong Econ department.

Thanks,
J

Excuse me, how to i post a new thread?
i’m new to this website

Go to the forum in which you want to make your post and in the upper left hand corner there should be a button which says start new thread

Chicago, Northwestern and Michigan come to mind. All have Top 10 level econ as does UW. Of course there is always UCB and some east coast schools.

What can your family afford? What is your home state?

We currently have 60,000 guaranteed and could afford a little more, but not much. My home state is Wisconsin, which is why it makes so much sense to go there (it doesn’t hurt that it is a top notch school), but I would like to have 2 or 3 more options

I don’t know exactly what chance to say you have at these, but you could also apply to MIT and Stanford and see what happens.

What are the other schools in which you are interested?

Hendrix, Lawrence, middlebury, WUSTL, stanford

Babson has a fantastic entrepreneurial program which is a bit different from Economics but still… it would be worth looking into.

Abson looks interesting but I am more looking into studying the economics of developing countries

Maybe Kenyon, Oberlin, Reed?
