i just signed up for this website so i don't know totally how it works yet, but i didn't realize so many people started so early on their college apps, most of which are due in january. ahhh now i feel behind! but i am applying ED so its due Nov 1.

ok for the common app essay, i have a bunch of ideas of just like random everyday events that have impacted me in some way eg. i stepped on a crunchy leaf (okay, maybe a bit more memorable than that) but i don't know if i should write about something more "significant"? i have been told i am a very strong writer with great stylistic skills, so i think i would be able to pull off writing about something trivial and include my personality and stuff.

if i wrote about a random everyday occurrence would this go under "Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you." or "Topic of your choice"?

I really really don't want to be cliche! i have a million cliche things that i could write about like studying abroad in Spain, traveling internationally by myself since i was 7, running my whole life, losing a close friend and family member blah blah blah

if you can (i won't copy yours i promise!) can you just tell me the topic you wrote yours on? or what are some really cliche topics? and what makes an essay standout?

thank you!
