Hi,
I'm having a lot of trouble with my college search. Can you guys help me with finding reach, math and safety colleges?

So in 9th grade I went to live in India, so my GPA and grades from that year aren't available.
Once I moved back to America,in 10th grade, my unweighted GPA was 3.4 and my weighted GPA was 3.91.
In 11th grade my unweighted GPA was 2.91 and my weighted GPA was 3.66.
My GPA for my 12 grade hasn't come out yet.
My overall high school GPA is 3.79(weighted) and 3.22(unweighted).

The biggest problem for me is that I failed my second semester of chemistry honors at my school in 11th grade. I just moved that year and it was hard getting use to my school. I made it up by taking a college course in chemistry at my local community college but I failed that class so I don't know how that is gonna affect me.

Also, when I moved I had to repeat French again. In my previous school I took french 3 but when i moved and went into french 4 at my new school , I found that it was too hard for me. Since I really liked french class I decided to take french 3 again at my new school, and pursue french further. Although it would look like a repeat on my transcript, I really went into the class that fit be best the skills I had in french.

I got a 27 on my ACT and a 1820/2400 on my SAT.
Critical Reading 590
Math 650
Writing 580
SAT II
Literature:630
Math:650

I live in California, so I'm applying for the UC's. Which ones do you guys think I can get in?

collegehelpnow, what majors are you thinking about pursuing in college? The choice of schools depends on what you want to study

pierre0913, i want to become a doctor, so I want to go into pre-med. But any of the following majors are good: Anatomy , Applied Economics , Biology , Biomedical Sciences , Development Economics , Economics , European History , European Studies , Genetics - Human/Medical , Global Studies , History - General , International Economics , International Relations , Neuroscience , Political Science/Government , or Pre-medicine.

do you want to go into research or do you want to go into primary care?

sorry for all the questions, but that will help me to help you

pierre0913, i would like to go into primary care and please feel free to ask me more question. Thanks You.

In that case, here are the schools you should look at (in order of prestige)

University Of Washington
University Of North Carolina At Chapel Hill
University Of Vermont
Baylor University
Harvard University (may be a reach)
Michigan State University
University Of Iowa
University Of Minnesota
University Of California - Los Angeles
Dartmouth College
University Of Wisconsin - Madison
Washington University In St. Louis
East Carolina University
University Of Michigan - Ann Arbor
University Of Rochester
University Of Pittsburgh

You should have no problem getting into the University Of Washington. Go there, they have an excellent pre-med and have the best primary care program in the country. It is also strong in everything from engineering to english.

Thanks!! :D Would you know if Emory is a option for me. If its a reach or a match or anything else about it?

Emory is a great research med school but not as good a primary school as the other schools I listed above so unless you can't get into any of the schools above, don't go to Emory
