My friend was interested in applying to Cornell, more specifically, he wanted to do the CAPS major. He had two questions:
Is there another application for the CAPS once you are admitted into Cornell?

He wanted to know if he could take Arabic classes while doing the CAPS major? He took a semester of Arabic over the summer and is in love with it.

If you can answer both questions, or even one, it’ll really help him out a lot. Thanks!

I'm also planning on applying to Cornell for the CAPS program. From what I've read and been told by the directors of the program, there is no separate form to fill out. Just like any other Cornell major, he should just put CAPS down as his desired major on the application. As far as Arabic, it seems like the program is extremely intensive and allows little room for extras. This is especially true for studying another language, considering you study Mandarin for the entire four years. However, I am not a Cornell student and this is just the information I've received from the college.

He should also take a look at other programs at Cornell that allow for more general language study, allowing him to take both Chinese and Arabic. (ie. linguistics, area studies, etc.)

thanks muzzicman! he'll really appreciate some of the feedback! anyone in cornell know if taking Arabic and CAPS is impossible (my friend just wanted to take the language courses to become proficient, not major in it, if it makes a difference)? thanks
