Can you join more than one department at tisch

I want to so film, acting and dramatic writing at tisch but can I do them all?

I don’t believe you can double (or triple) major within Tisch. I know people’s hi have double majored or Minored in other areas (business, education etc) but all Tisch studio classes are held on same day. And you can’t be in more than one place at the same time

You can only apply to one studio at a time. First primary studio for two years, then you can change studios for your professional training. Double majoring would be almost impossible. The schedule is like nothing else for any degree. Three days a week you have studio, which is from 9-6. The other two days you have for general ed, and other degree requirements. Most take 18 hours a semester. Studio counts as 8 hours a semester. It would be possible to minor by taking advantage of the January terms, as well as summer sessions, but I don’t see any other way.

I know 2 people who graduated from NYU with double majors (one being theater, the other something else) One was in Steinhardt (rather than Tisch), their schedule is slightly more flexible. The other did summer/jterms and still graduated in 4 years

Actually, you do not apply to “one” studio as a freshman applicant unless you are applying for MT and say you will only be considered for the MT (which only has 1 studio and it’s New Studio on Broadway). Otherwise you are applying to any and all acting studios if apply for acting and also do an MT audition. You don’t get to specify which one you want. They assign you.

Perhaps what Princessjpmom meant is that you cannot apply to both Drama, Film and Dramatic Writing in the same application for Tisch. That is true or at least for sure was in the past and I can’t imagine it has changed. I agree that you cannot double or triple major in these fields through Tisch. There is no way to schedule the classes to complete those majors.

There are students in Tisch Drama who double major but not within Tisch. Most or all involved majors offered by CAS or Steinhardt as toowonderful mentions above.
