I really like Sutherland because they have private bathrooms that you share with one other room. I am not in Honors however. Is it possible to still live in Sutherland? I don't mind the walk haha.

Absolutely, the honors living community makes up only a small part of Sutherland. There are predominately athletes and everyday students who live in sutherland.

Your statement is slightly inaccurate. To answer OP:

1- Yes, if you are not guaranteed UHC upon arrival, you can ASK UHC permission to apply into Sutherland, beacuse
2- Sutherland is half-athletes and half-UHC, but
3- Sutherland is so big that the UHC-half isn’t filled with all UHC students (at least this year it wasn’t), so after all the UHC students got spots, extra spots were given to any non-UHC students who wanted them.

Hi. have a daughter interested in the Honors Housing. First, how many freshmen typically are in honors housing. What are the dorm rooms like. Can I hear some comments on the things you like or dont like about it. what are the kids like - do they have fun or study the majority of the time? are there a lot of planned activities and do the students participate in them, anything else I am not even thinking about that may be important to know.

I’m still waiting to hear from 2 colleges, so I have not committed to Pitt yet. I hear back from them the middle of April. If I don’t get in, do you think I can still get into Sutherland?

My son really enjoys Honors Housing. The students are more serious about academics but also engage in lots of outings and social activities. The only drawback is the big hill you have to climb on you way back from class! Good way to stay fit! I’m sure some students will chime in with more details.

It’s suite style with anywhere from 2-4 rooms in the suite. Every 2-4 people get a bathroom (so a big 8 person suite has 2 bathrooms in it). You also have a small common area in the suite, and a bigger one on the ends of the hallway. There is a HUGE lounge and game area on the ground floor. The dorm also has a convenience store and a small dining hall inside.

As for your other questions, I answered them on my thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/1161888-rising-pitt-senior-here-ask-me-anything-44.html
