Can you please chance a very nervous junior???

so i am a good student, i take my grades very seriously and really care about college
that being said i came from a private school and went to a public high school. that affected my grades freshman year... i had 2 C's which brought my GPA to a 3.2 :/

my sophmore year was better, i had 1 C however my GPA was still only a 3.2

my junior year hit me hard, i reliazed how much trouble i was in if i didnt do well this year... so i worked my $%^ off and i got a 3.8 taking pre-calc, ap us history, and honors physics... among some other classes that dont have a great signifiance...

so for all of you counting at home that brings my GPA to roughly a 3.4... and a question, does UMass look at senior grades and fact that into your overall GPA or do they just base it off the first 3 years?

so now i ask you can i get in?
gpa 3.4 (possbility of it getting higher)
SAT: Math 680
CR: 660
Total SAT 1340/1600
ACT: 29
Some pretty good volunteer work
Some ECs
i will have a good rec from my pre calc teacher because i started first quater with a C- but went for help and i just got a B+ in my 2nd quater. my other Rec's should be good
My high school was in the top 4% of high schools nationwide

im a likeable kid who was attracted by UMass's great Accounting program

im OOS (PA) and your typical white kid...

IF YOU RESPOND, I THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Your test scores are very good, your GPA is rising, you are taking rigorous courses…

I think your chances are excellent.

thanks for responding

the average GPA for UMass Amherst is about a 3.3, so your GPA is fine for UMass. Congrats on bringing up your GPA, btw! And your SAT scores are well above the average for UMass. You are a shoe-in for UMass but I think you should apply to some more prestigious schools as well. GOOD LUCK!

Your GPA is 3.4 is only slightly below the average GPA of 3.6. Your SAT’s are excellent for UMass and being out of state doesn’t reduce your chances. Don’t worry too much about EC’s… most students, including myself, didn’t have extraordinary EC’s. The average states for out of state students is consistently lower than in state students (it was in a data set whose link I have forgotton).

You should apply to PSU because UMass isn’t worth the instate tution if you can get into Penn State which you will get in.

Did u get in?
