Net price at each?

If you pay list price at each, it looks like Georgia Tech would be by far the best deal out of the bunch, if you get in.

Tough choice if you use my food quality rankings; UT-Austin by a smidgeon, then GA Tech, then UMich :)

Seriously, cost aside they’re all great programs, and it may depend a lot on what type of CS work you’re interested in, synergy with other programs or departments, and of course cost. Factor in cost of living in your calculations, if cost is an issue, because for some reason U of M and U T have rather expensive housing, on or off campus, esp. U of M. Darned nice housing if you go to the right places, but still pricy.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be getting any scholarships, and I won’t be getting financial aid which is why GT is my top choice. However, I just wanted to know if any of the others were at a serious advantage/disadvantage from the others. As I see now, that’s not the case. I’m mostly interested in making apps or games, and I’ll probably want to work with a company that does that. It would be really cool working with a company like Google since I’m interested in the different kinds of technology it makes, but I know that’s a long shot. Still, it’s good to know where I stand on what I want to do. And you don’t have to chance me for all of them, but do you guys think I can make it into at least one of these schools?

What “graphics type work”?? He’s applying for undergrad…

Anyway, those 4 schools are all “top tier”. Go to GT to save money!

Games usually require graphics (the engine part, not the creative use-the-engine to write the next Quake part). Graphics is not something you learn in a semester or so of “here is DirectX 10 have at it”.

GT even back in the dark ages had respected visualization and media type programs and a very good HCI program.

I’m not talking specialized game design programs, just CS with a bit of focus on graphics.
