can you recommend some safeties for me

<p>i realized that i obviously and really need some safeties since im probably going to get rejected from most of the places that i apply to :(
can you recommend some for me please.</p>

<p>GPA: around 4.7 or 4.6 weighted, All As and maybe a few A-s in all APs and Honors classes possible.
APs: 5 by end of jr year, 12 by end of sr year. probably all 5s
rank: idk top 10
SATII: 800 Chem, 800 Math2, 800 Bio
SAT: none, but 235 PSAT.
ECs: nothing spectacular, president/captain of a few clubs/varsity tennis
Awards: math and science...basically state and regional awards
volunteering: 120 hours from a few years ago. not much</p>

rutgers (im in NJ)
umich
uwisconsin</p>

<p>for the latter two i think i'll be pretty happy to go to</p>

<p>what are the match/reach schools you are considering? then we can make suggestions of similar but safer schools</p>

<p>You're essentially applying to Ivy-caliber schools...Admission is tough, and while your stats are very competitive, Ivy admission is still tough.</p>

<p>Emory University, in Atlanta GA, has one of the better known business programs in the nation. UChicago also has a good business program. Still, even these places are selective with ~30% acceptance rate. Still, it's better than 10%. These aren't really safeties, but they're more match-y than the top places you listed. I really think you should add these to your list.</p>

<p>Rutgers, UMich, and UWisconsin are fine safeties for business programs.</p>

<p>USC, especially for OOS has a great undergrad business program, and is less competitive for admission than your first tier choices.</p>

<p>Still, I think you need a safety...Penn State honors could be an excellent choice. Rutgers as well.</p>

<p>+1 on OL's comments. I'd add Northwestern to the list (not based on business program - children of several friends are there/went there). Rutgers is fine as your safety. If you or your parents know someone doing what you think you want to be doing, talk with them about what they look for and which schools make sense for an undergraduate degree.</p>

<p>I agree that Michigan is probably not a true safety for business.</p>

<p>I'd say Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio State if you like large publics--all are top 12 (public or private) for undergrad business in USN&WR.</p>

<p>Wisconsin is rumored to favor oos applicants. Illinois definitely does not favor oos applicants due to political pressure from the Chicago suburbs. Ohio State treats in state and oos equally. Don't know about Indiana. </p>

<p>Pitt and Penn State are both good overall choices, but I don't know how strong they are for business in particular.</p>

<p>UW-Madison, UIUC, OSU, and IU are excellent safeties. I'd also add Emory, USC, Rice, and UT-Austin.</p>

<p>NYU has a good business program, and you would be accepted. U Maryland would be another true safety.</p>
