I have currently been waitlisted to a school and I am planning to accept my acceptance for another school and if i get into the other school I am planning on just rejecting the admissions and accepting the other school that I got waitlisted to.

so can i reject to the school that I accepted the offer from,,, or... is that illegal?

No, you definitely can withdraw your enrollment.

I thought you could too.
Does it cost extra to withdraw enrollment? Because right now, I’ve just accepted offer of admission; haven’t put down any deposit, for housing, tuition, anything.
So, can I just call them and withdraw enrollment, or how does that work?

Well, considering that you won’t know for certain until the end of June (probably) if you’ve gotten off the waitlist of not (that is when most colleges send their sorry there are no more spots letters) and you will probably have sent in a deposit by then, you would most likely lose your deposit. But you would still call and politely tell the college that you won’t be attending. It’s no big deal because it happens to a lot of colleges and many expect it to some extent.
