Can you rush for sororities as a sophmore?

Working my butt off to transfer for sophmore year.

Really excited for greek life, but will I feel slightly out of place being a year older?

Also, is 'buying' your way in something that happens during rush? Do some girls do that?

Thanks! Also, i'm gonna bump a couple times, because I need 15 posts to be able to reply to a kind PM i received :)

buuuumppp ^^^

Short answer, yes (for both sororities/fraternities). Some people do it junior year as well but not as often.

You can rush any year and any semester. However, houses prefer to recruit lower-class students.

flowers,

There is good news for those who are considering NPC sorority recruitment in late summer of 2013. Nine chapters will recruit members during formal recruitment. Two will recruit in more of an informal process after formal recruitment ends.

Alpha Gamma Delta is returning to the row. The nationaal will be recruiting a large number of women, possibly around 160+ (guessing). Since AGD will be recoolonizing the national will be looking for interested women from the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes. Each national has different policies, but colonies in the past have been known to take a small number of seniors.

If you are admitted and wish to consider Greek life be sure to have a frank discussion with your family to make sure that sorority expenses fit into the family budget.
