I have a deadline on Nov. 1 to apply to 8 schools through the common application, but have other schools that need the common app due at regular decision deadlines, and I may not have enough time to just go ahead and fill out all of the supplements for schools that aren't due until February. Can I submit the full common app with supplements for some schools and then go back and finish the rest later? Or do I have to just do it all now.

Absolutely. You submit the applications one at a time. Imagine having to submit them all at once by Nov1st–That would be a nightmare!

We have the same concern here. Are we allowed to make changes on the common app for the schools that are due for RD? Thanks.

I don’t believe you can…we sent an EA application some weeks ago.
Since then, when sending additional RD applications, we noticed that other than the first page (where you write kind of app…ie, RD vs EA), the rest is set in stone so to speak.

You would have to create an alternate version if there were things you wanted to change for RD schools. So yes, CA is set once you send out that first school.

Miswrote…meant to say, you cannot…

But GPAs and other things can change from an early Nov 1 application to a regular January or February application. So, really, you can’t adjust them? I heard otherwise, but I don’t know how it’s done. I know someone who did it last year.

You can create a new version of the common app, which you can use to apply to the other colleges. Take a look at this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/common-application/573868-alternate-version-common-application.html

Question: Which means we can choose to submit the early decision/action application first, then can proceed with other applications???
