can you still get accepted into nu if you get rejected for engineering major

if u declare ur major to be biomedical engineering. but you don't get in with that major, can u get in with another major still or are u completely rejected from the school?

i don't think so... but no matter what major you state on your app you can always easily switch into engineering. I don't know if it's harder to get into the engineering school, but I got into the arts and sciences college, and I'm transfering into engineering quite simply...

so how do i switch majors? cuz i already submitted that i want to do engineering.

I think you can just e-mail or call the school and let them know, and they'll tell you what you need to do.

mint,

I don't think they accept people to a specifc major; instead they accept people to the school they specify on their application (I am not 100% sure however because it's been quite a while since I got my acceptance letter). Once your are within the school, you are free to choose any major offered in that school. You can also petition to transfer to another school and apparently that's not difficult to do either.

Past statistics show that the engineering school admits generally have the higher SATs scores. That doesn't neccessarily mean it's harder to get into Tech. Tech could easily have the highest SATs score and the highest acceptance rate at the same time because the engineering applicants tend to have pretty high math scores.

In case you are not aware, nufrosh already got accepted ED and he/she asked for the switch AFTERward. I don't know if it'd look awkward to switch in the middle of the review process.

Application Status page has a place where you can change your email address and another where it tells you what to do if you want to change schools you applied to and if you want to change your major.

LOL! I totally forgot about online applicantion. I kept thinking about hard copies in the good old days.

thanks guys. would it look really bad if i switched in the middle though/

I doubt it. They'll probably just think you were having doubts about whether you wanted to do engineering or not.
