I took my ACT in December and I made an 11 on it but I did made a perfect score on the writing section. I really don't want to take it over because all the schools I applied to deadlines are this month. My GPA is a 2.2 but it's going up. I've been looking at some community colleges, these are the schools I applied to: Clark Atlanta university, LIM College, St. Johns University, and East Carolina university.

Your composite score was eleven?

Yes because I scored low on science and reading.

Are you using the 36 total score?
EDIT: Ninja’d, nm.

I don’t think cc’s need a certain score anyway. So yeah, you have a chance.

You can get higher than 11 guessing on every question. OP is lying.

A perfect score on the writing section ALONE is 12.

I just wanna know do I have a chance for any of the colleges I applied to.

I did make a 12 on the writing section.

richmoneyy, what is your score breakdown?

BeanTownGirl, a 12 on the writing does nothing to your composite.

Wallrus75, what a naive statement.

Wat.

10 char

English 11, Mathematics 15, Reading 07, Science 10, Combined English/Writing 12

richmoneyy, what was your essay score? (Not the combined)

I had a 12 on the writing.

Clark Atlanta University: 25th-75th percentile ACT = 17-20.
LIM College: 25th-75th percentile ACT = 19-24.
St. Johns University: 25th-75th percentile ACT = 21-27.
East Carolina University: 25th-75th percentile ACT = 20-24.

Your ACT score falls below the 25th percentile at all of these colleges. If I were you, I would either:

a) Retake the ACT ASAP and get it up to about a 20-22.
b) Apply to some community colleges whose middle range falls into the 11 range.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your best bet really is to take the test again and, with lots of studying, see if your score goes up.

Did you take the SAT? I’ll have to say you got some bad college application advice if you didn’t take any test until December of your senior year. Maybe try to take January SAT to send to schools. If it is a better score maybe can sway a school that’s on the fence. You seriously need to be talking to admission people at these schools for advice at this point to see if there’s anything else you can do.

Okay thanks, I think I will take it over but I sent my scores electronically. I just hope they don’t make the decision.

This really does not add up. How can you get a perfect score on the English/writing when you did so poorly on the English part?

I really don’t know

Apparently a monkey took the ACT and scored 13… Are you trolling? Like cross said how do you get a perfect score on writing and do so poorly on English and reading?

Figured it out. Richmoneyy did not get perfect on the writing. They got an 11 on English. Look at this table: [Writing | How to Calculate Your Combined English/Writing Score | ACT Student](<a href=“ACT Test Preparation | Test Prep Resources | ACT”>ACT Test Preparation | Test Prep Resources | ACT)

To get a 12 on English/Writing, richmoneyy scored a 6 on the essay.

Richmoneyy, if you want, you could call the admissions office and ask if they would accept the January administration of the ACT/SAT (if you cannot find that info on their website FIRST), though I’m pretty sure they would.

Or try the SAT. You might score higher.
