Well if you are just trying to pattern match without actually understanding why said pattern fits a given problem, then you aren’t doing yourself any favors and will likely have problems applying the topics to novel problems, connecting different ideas later on, and retaining much knowledge from one class to the next. Pattern-matching can be useful for people if used in conjunction with a genuine effort to figure out why the patterns work, but if you are just searching for patterns and blindly applying them to other problems, you are headed for trouble.

@boneh3ad I know what you’re saying but I try not to do that, I WANT to learn physics, and understand why problems are set up the way they are, but sometimes my mind just sees it as a pattern when i look at them do you know what I mean? I know physics is all applications of how the universe is (hence the name of the subject) but idk why I feel I can’t master it, I always find myself struggling with it… I guess I need to look at it in a different perspective? WHat do you think ? Did you have the same problem as me when you took the course ? Please say yes. lol Hoping im not the only one D;

I did not have such issues but plenty of people do and plenty overcome it enough to figure out what they are doing. I really don’t have any specific advice given that I don’t know what kind of problems you are having, but I’d suggest finding a study group and hopefully someone there can help you make some sense of it.

@boneh3ad Thanks for your suggestion, appreciate it, my friend is currently my study buddy in this subject but I feel like we’re both in the same boat, so probably we need someone a little more knowledgable than us lol, hoping I can find a study group in time before my next quiz, so do you think there will still be hope in engineering even tho im like really slow on the subject Lol.
