nice job on the ACT, but as everyone tells you these schools are highly selective. Your scores are decent, but I’d personally say you’d need to write an amazing essay to get accepted to these schools. Do you have any community service- your ECs are lacking.

No I do not, I am the only English speaker in my family so a lot of my time has been spent handling our affairs but I know its still not an excuse. I was hoping my Hispanic background would at least make up some ground for it.

You have a decent profile and I also think your lack of community service may not affect you admission if you make it clear in your app that you spent time for so and so family affairs as you are the only English speaker in your family. That covers the community development. Tell them that, for example, you watch over emails for you dad kinda things.

sorry SAT120 i was just putting my highest score from the two times i took them, I got 32 compostite both times, though you are right my breakdown score would be 33

Catria: I am not applying to safety schools through questbridge because it is a binding scholarship. I will probably apply to Wisconsin-Madison or Michigan through RD if I am not accepted in any of these.

I would disagree with the poster above me. I think, because of your pretty good ACT score, high school environment, and Hispanic Background, you have a pretty good shot. Yes, it would be nice to have better ECs, but your work experience is pretty good, and you can explain your situation in your essays.

Submitted my application Thursday! :D. My essays aren’t the best(writing isnt my strong point) but I am still very happy with them. They really show who I am and I did explain my situation through one of them.

you have really achieved a lot being first-gen and of hispanic background. your ECs are lacking, but i honestly don’t think this will be too much of a detriment due to your unique situation.
