I took the ACT through state testing and we didn't take the writing test. I am satisfied with my ACT composite score, however, I've been looking around all over the internet trying to find out if I can just take the writing portion so that I don't have to take the whole thing over. or if not, if I can take the score I already earned and just add the writing part of the ACT I will take the second time, to that.

As to the question about whether it's possible to take the writing by itself: no. As of now you cannot, and I haven't heard of any plans to change this.

As to the second question (about adding the score in), I personally have not heard of any college that allows this. That doesn't mean that some college don't do this, but so far as I've seen, most colleges don't allow compiling scores from different test dates.

I'm sure if you got a good score once, you can get it again. Good luck!

you have to take the whole thing. it wouldn't be fair otherwise, because everyone else has to write the essay after 3+ hours of intense testing. of coure, unless you scored perfect the first itme, you can always improve :)

haha. true. but if I don't do as well I will be extremely sad. darn. thanks though guys.
