Let me know what you think my chances are. Personally I don't think I will get into Dartmouth, or Amherst but please let me know what you think. Thanks

You've got a decent shot. Is that GPA weighted or unweighted? If unweighted, that's awesome...if weighted, it's still great, but plenty of other applicants will have higher ones.

The only thing I see that might slow you down would be those SAT scores, on the SATI and SATIIs, but they certainly don't take you out of the running by any stretch of the imagination. Good luck.

ahh. the classic over-achiever.

im just trying to give a detailed resume so that you can give me a real evaluation of my chances at these schools

Chances=slim at best. Your resume is meaningless, give us a writing sample, the essay is what makes the difference.

slim?
i think it's anything but slim!
look at the ECs and awards, i think you are probably in
and the scores are mediocre, little below average, but hey, that's why they are called averages not cut off line right.
anyway, good luck

In a Bucknell and probably CMU. Scores are just too low for the others.

Unless of course you're being recruited for one of your sports.

I agree with Zagat. If you could boost the SAT about 50 pts and raise the SAT2s to mid-high 600s at least you would have a much better shot at Cornell. Dartmouth and Amherst are even harder. As is CMU and Bucknell you are in though. Apply ED to your favorite of the top three.

thanks for the advice everyone, i also forgot to mention that for my cornell app i got a recommendation from my friends mom who used to work in the cornell admissions office, and another recommendation from a cousin who graduated from the cornell class of 92'.

and o yea as for the writing sample brennerf87 i think i can provide you one if thats what it takes to get you to evaluate my chances on the same level as everyone else thinks i am.

Just post it littlebigs, I think the essay is the most important part in elite admission these days. Then again, business schools are much easier to gain admission to...

Still, I don't understand why you all ^^ are so sure of his admission? Are you just wowed by a long list of EC's which is probably inflated anyway? And littlebigs, you are right, your SAT II will DEFINITELY hurt you at the ivys. You failed to reach the magic "700" in 2 of three, and could'nt make the magic "1400" on your SAT I. Therefore, you have to make up for these deficiencies somehow. Unfortunately, you are white and live in NY. Have you looked at NY's public school system, SUNY? Good education for a good price. May be more of a match for you.

interesting response beenerf87... i assure my EC's are in no way the least bit inflated. As for the SATII's i am fully aware i didnt hit the mark i think the math is ok, i took the US history 7 months after taking the course in school and did no studying what so ever, and i feel my 4 on the AP US History exam will make up for my 630 on the SATII. As for the writing, i wrote a very mediocre essay after being given a topic dealing with patriotism and ran out of time on the multiple choice and was forced to leave the last 8 questions blank. Ive never considered myself a good writer but 1 SATII score isnt going to make or break the decisions process. Ive still maintained a 90+ average in every english course i have taken throughout high school. As for the magic "700" and "1400" it is too late now to make a difference so all i can do is wait and see and ask for your evaluations. I have looked at the SUNY system and applied to SUNY Binghamton as a safety school to which i was accepted. I'm sure you know well of SUNY Binghamton, you know, "the premier public university of the northeast." Also, if memory serves, you applied to SUNY Binghamton yourself. Even along with your acceptance to G-town, beener i think you have considered SUNY Bing as college worthy of applying. Any thoughts beener?

also, concerning the writing sample, i have several essays which i could post for you beener. Would u like my common app essay, amherst essay, CMU essay, or the 2 short essays for cornell? I will submit whatever you feel suits the situation the best.

anyway, i think chances are still good, you guys are overlooking this person's EC collection. and the SATs are mediocre, they are very much up to par with other applicants (not CC applicants, b/c CC people are the top top top top top tier people with 1500s)
1360=92th percentile or something i think

thanks Newbyreborn and yes a 1360 is somewhere around 91 or 92 percentile, its nice to know i can compete with the top tier applicants.

Post the common app essay. Who is beener? And what is FBLA?

perhaps if you read the resume more closely u would see it says Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) the first time i list it in my resume

your chances are good would be better if your SATs were higher. all in all you have a good shot. if possible, applying ED would help. if not you've got a good shot. having a few ECs that you're REALLY good at is better than alot of ECs. but you seem to have a nice chance. good luck.

Cornell, Dartmouth, & Amherst are iffy, but you should be good on the others.

CC people, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Cornell big on grades & not much on test scores (if this is right you may have a fair shot there)

And not really on topic, but littlebigs, could you tell me how to start a chapter of FBLA for my school? I'd really like to do that, but I have no idea (a link or anything would be great)

I hope you didn't list all those honors and awards. Most of them aren't all that meaningful.
