Just curious.

yes. when places accept transfers, it usually doesn't matter whether or not you're transfering from a BFA or a non-BFA

maggie

Well I guess what I'm asking is, would you still have to do 4 years of BFA training after you transfer.

a lot of places, yes.

some places will evaluate your training credits and see what will transfer/not. (BoCo does this) it really depends on the school.

i would call the schools you're interested in and ask, that's really the best way to find out.

You also have to think about the practicality of actually getting to the auditions. You'll be working crew a lot as a freshman at most BFAs and my experience at my first school was that the schedule for that can be very unpredictable, takes place on weekends, and you can't just blow it off. Then there's what can be the very expensive problem of getting from wherever you'll be to wherever the auditions are. So, yeah ... Scheduling all this in advance and actually being able to follow through with it can be kinda iffy. Beyond that, the faculty might not appreciate what you're doing and it could have future political implications at some schools if you don't get in the other program(s) and actually leave. This is part of why I decided to leave my first BFA and come home to my state school as an undeclared major to finish off my GEs and audition for different programs.
