Can you write about sports in the SAT essay and get a 12 consistently?

Ok, I am an avid sports fan and writing about football/basketball comes naturally. At my SAT prep class I wrote about two basketball players and received a 10 on a prac test. They commented that it was well written, but literary and historical examples have the highest success rate for 11/12's. They also said that it is best to only write about one example and expand on it, but I have always heard that 2-3 examples are best.

In your guys experience can you write about sports or other things like musicians and get a 12 regularly? Also is 1 expanded example better than 2-3 more vague ones?

ive never wrote about sports myself but i feel like if your evidence is strong enough to support the prompt, youll be fine

first off, a 12 can never be guaranteed due to the subjective nature of the SAT essay, but second, any topic of example can be used on the SAT essay and still get a 12, depending on how well it is written/length/ etc.

I hope comma splices aren’t an indicator of poor writing.

You can write about sports as long as you don’t do it superficially.

At least sports can be pertinent to history and news.

Still in most cases this is probably dangerous territory.

Okay, they don’t really have to be pertinent to history and news. ^
I took the SAT twice, and I got 11’s both times by literally BSing that crap.
I’m not encouraging you to use silly examples, but I make up a lot of stuff. Don’t you think they’re sick and tired of hearing the same blah blah blah WWII, blah blah blah Navigation Acts, blah blah blah? I’m sure as long as your sport topics are RELEVANT to the prompt, you will be fine. Quantity over quality, remember that.
On my last essay, I used a made up story about my grandpa and then John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. Don’t listen to people who only think prehistoric and yawn-worthy pretentiousness will always get you a 12. If you’re a good writer, you will do great. good luck!
Oh and 2 examples is the best. 3 will cut you short of time if you’re not fast on your feet, but 1 is usually never enough. 2 gives you enough time to think, write, and expand.
