Just curious, I know some schools "value" them more than others. But do they really have concrete influence on admissions if they are effective/good? Can they possibly make a difference as to whether you're accepted or not?

yes, they have quite of big impact on your application. The main reason is that they these recommendations tell who you really are (an outside perspective of you) instead of the person you are trying to seem through your part of the application.

Thanks for the reply, i’m hoping that since I know both of mine are very strong (my english teacher wrote one, and she knows me very well and writes brilliantly about others…), that they might help me out a bit.

good luck! :)
