Canada grants open work permit to International graduates

An important development for those seeking to study in Canada. New rules announced by Canada immigration provide for a post graduation work permit for 3 years if you graduated with a 4 year degree. It is an open work permit so you may work for whomever you wish and it does not have to be in your degree field.

Studying in Canada: Work permits for students - Working after graduation

how about those studying in non canadian unis?

No, you have to be studying in a Canadian university.

cool :P (10 chars)

The U.S. has a 12-month work permit, but the work must be directly related to your degree. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math students can now work for 29 months after graduation, but with a lot of extra conditions.

Another difference between studying in the U.S and Canada (though not new) is that as a full time student you may work off campus after completing one semester, for 20 hours per week and full time during summer and winter breaks.

Ahhh nice, 200 dollars/week :p

Hi

Is the Open work permit open to International students who graduated many years ago but are no longer living in Canada?

Please reply immediately.

Thanks
Ken

I don’t think so. Graduated students have to graduate recently in order to be eligible for the work visa.
