How is it? Is it prestigious? Is getting in hard? Would a rising Senior fit in?

I went there for the past two summers. I guess though it doesn’t help your college app as much as other prestigious programs (RSI, SSP), you’ll still meet a whole bunch of amazing people there. I’ve never been to other math programs like Ross or PROMYS, but I could assert that based on the number of MOPpers, Mathcamp is on par with any other programs in the country.

I’m a rising Senior too. Whether you fit in or not is really dependent on how much you love math. If you like mental chess, building models or play frisbee, you’ll find yourself in love with the place.

If Mathcamp is on par with any other program in the country, why isn’t it prestigious and helpful for college apps (like RSI and SSP)

sorry I meant other math programs. Mathcamp’s acceptance rate is around 40% and its applicant pool might not be as competitive a group as those applying for RSI and SSP, although most people applying there have a genuine passion for math.

Isn’t the application deadline drawing near though? Have you started on your qualifying quiz?

I have started a bit, I want to finish relatively soon…

How much of the qualifying quiz do I need to complete?

So far I have 2 completed, and 3 that are halfway done. I have a feeling that one of them merely has an answer from observing a pattern, but it’s not actually a proof. Will that be bad?

As long as I try all of them and show my thinking, if I don’t get any correct, do I still have a chance to get accepted?

So deadline has passed. I only managed to solve 5 completely with proofs. They may be wrong, but according to my proofs, they are right. The other three, I could not complete.

I don’t know if I will get in. I am quite anxious.

Anyone else in the same position?

5/8 is quite good. Did you write math contests?

I’m not sure what you mean by write math contests?

Like AMC, AIME, ARML, etc. A good score on any of the bigger contests will be beneficial=]

So I got a 94.5 on the AMC 12B, but it was my first year doing it, and I made a really stupid reading mistake on the first question.

Also scored the second highest score on the AMATYC at the local community college.

So… anyone hear back yet?

lol I suggest you look into AoPS. Many there are alumni or applying to Mathcamp this year. To be frank, 94.5 is on the low side of Mathcamp’s applicants…If your qualifying quiz went well, though, you still have a chance!

^ I guess you are right; but then again it was my first time doing these type of math problems. I was instrumental in bringing this up at my school, so I hope that captures my enthusiasm for Math.

So I’m applying for this tooo
I’m just wondering when they will tell us the decision…
