I was wondering whether some Canadian Universities would be a good match for me. I am looking for engineering school that is competitive. I know about McGill but no more. What are the other ones.

University of Waterloo has the best reputation for engineering in Canada. University of Western Ontario is supposed to have a good engineering program, but I don't know very much about it. Other top universities in Canada are University of Toronto, UBC, and Queens.

By the way, about the weather, the weather in Canada isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Vancouver (home to UBC) has very mild weather as it is on the coast. Unless you're planning on attending university in the Territories, the weather will be similar to that of the northern US.

nice climate: west coast, UBC preferably. SFU is becoming really easy.

UToronto is recognized here as THE University. Mcgill really isn't that much harder...the only reason why its well known is probably because of the connections it has with the ivies. Surprisingly this year, UT has accepted a ton of students that couldn't get into UBC.

THe admissions process is quite stupid; everything is basically based on the average of courses, usually those at the grade 12 level and the academic ones, so there really isn't any essays/EC's/supplements to talk about. DON't GO TO SFU. They offer almost everyone full rides, but the minimum GPA you have to keep to keep the award is almost impossible to get because of the weird grading system there.
