canadian citizen, living in US, have H4 visa

Hi! I am a canadian citizen living in the US. My father's company sponsored him for his visa and all, and I have an H4 visa to study in the US. So, does this mean that when i apply to colleges they will see me as a INTERNATIONAL STUDENT or just as another student living in massachussetes?

i was reading in some other threads about how several international students (who live in the US, but may not necessarily have the H4 visa) were not given admission to many top schools (top 20) because they asked for financial aid ... etc..

so, will I be at a similar disadvantage as them, or as students who don't live in the US at all who will need universities to sponsor them for visas, or will i have a better chance than those who don't have visas and/or live abroad?

~~~~ please lemme know if you need clarification on my question ... i totally understand it probably isnt stated in the finest english ~~~~~
