Canadian Grades into American GPA?

Hey, I'm new to this site so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I was looking at the average GPA of students in some American universities and I'm not too sure how I would convert my grades into GPA. I live in British Columbia where an A is 86%, and from my understanding an A is 90% in most US schools, correct me if I'm wrong. Does this mean that if I were to get an A at 88% in a class here, that would be seen as a B when applying to American universities? Or would they look at my marks differently given that I'm not from the US? I'm aware that every university is different, but is there any way to get a general idea of what my current GPA is so I have a better idea of which universities I have a chance at?

I asked that question at a US university fair in Toronto. I got 2 completely different answers from 2 different universities. In Ontario, an A is 80 and up. Carnegie Mellon told me that 80 and up was a 4.0. UC Berkeley told me that 90 and up was a 4.0, high 80s was a 3.7 and low 80s was a 3.3. My recommendation is to aim for 90’s and to use your SAT or ACT scores to get a sense of whether you match the universities.

Thank you so much! I’ve read other places that 93% is in A in some American high schools. I hope they’ll look at my grades differently seeing as it’s basically unheard of to have over 93% in all classes at my school. Most of the straight A students and best students in the school only just barely make it to 90%.
