I’m from the US and I’m thinking about going to college in Canada. What I want to know is:

  • What are my options for Financial Aid/Scholarships?
  • If I have a family member who lives in Ontario, is there any way I could use their address to pay Domestic fees?

Domestic tuition is not based on residency. It’s based on citizenship. So, no, you can’t use your family member’s address to get domestic tuition.

You can apply for federal aid from the US government. You may get lucky and get a scholarship from an Ontario university. Some universities have scholarships that must be applied for, but for the most part, scholarships are awarded based on merit, without a specific application.

Canadian tuition fees are based on being a Canadian citizen or legal immigrant. You cannot fake residency like some try to do, illegally, in the US in order to get in state tuition.
