How are the following law schools in Canada:
-University of Toronto
-Osgoode Hall at York University
-McGill
Are they on par with top American schools.

There's no such thing as a teir 2 Law School in Canada. Why? Because we only have like 12 of them. However, none of them are going to be on par with Harvard or Yale. Don't go to McGill. McGill's lame.

Toronto is the best one in Canada. Relatively tough to get into... average 3.8 GPA and 167 LSAT (at least). It'd be top 10 when compared to the top US schools.

"It'd be top 10 when compared to the top US schools."

Speculation. (I can see you are referring to numbers, but still).

If you are planning to practice in the US, go to an American LS.

I agree, that if they want to practice in the US, that they should go to the US. However, it'd also be speculation to assume that U of T is not on par with some top 10 schools in the US. So really, any way you slice it, you can only offer an answer based on speculation. I realise that you Americans assume that we don't have any top prestigious schools up here with all of the igloos, but that's completely not true. I'd have a very hard time being convinced that U of T is not on par with the likes of Duke, Michigan, and Virginia. However, I already admitted that nothing in Canada comes close to places like Yale, Harvard, and Stanford.

..I would have said Osgoode Hall. I googled out of curiousity and found a ranking by Canadian Lawyer Magazine. I have NO idea how influential it is..but it listed Osgoode Hall as #1. It also noted that it ranked #4 the previous year...so I assume the Canadian rankings change more at the top than those of American law schools.

Canadian Lawyer Magazine is on crack. Osgoode Hall is the oldest and largest Law School in Canada, that's it. UofT has the best job placement, and is by far the most prestigious.

So, if one goes to law school in Canada, one doesn't have much of a chance to practice in the USA, and if one goes to law school in the USA, one doesn't have much chance practicing law in Canada?
