Canadian pursuing med = same as other internationals

I saw that on the Yale website that...

"It is extremely difficult for international applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States to gain admission to American medical schools. State-supported medical schools rarely consider international applicants for admission, and those private schools that do accept applications generally require that international students place in escrow the equivalent of one to four years tuition and fees ($40,000-$200,000 U.S.)."

whoa, that's a mountain of money...
Does this apply to Canadians as well?

Yeah, I saw a webpage somewhere listing All the med school's policies on international students, only about the top 15 medical school's don't discriminate against Canadian students.

I saw that same blurb on Harvard's website as well...I am slowly changing my mind about med now since it's hard to get into a med school in the US but equally as difficult here in Canada.
