Canadian Student wondering about columbia

<p>Hello my Name is Nasma from Toronto Canada currently in the 10th grade which is sophomore in the u.s.I have always wanted to go to school in Newyork especially Columbia .
Currently my grades aren't that great i have a 3.5 gpa ? But I volunteer a lot and I am very active in my community. I am just wondering if I do really good in Grade 11 and 12 (junior and senior) year will my grade 9 and 10 mark not matter so much ? I go to a public highschool and we don't have AP the most advanced course in the University or Academic ? Will that affect me that I am not doing AP classes? PLUS i will be doing my SATs soon hopefully it will work out .The program I am interested in is the International Relation one , or Political science ? </p>

<p>Do you think I have chance if my marks improve for next year? </p>

<p>well yes, you need to do very well, but the grades and SATs alone won’t cut it. you’ll have to bring a lot more to the table as an applicant. be very involved and passionate in your extracurricular pursuits is the only advice i can give.</p>
