I was just wondering if anybody would he interested in sharing their stats if they got into the ivy league. It would be I teresting to see if everybody had to be top 10 in waterloo contests, top of the country, etc.
So if anybody feels comfortable , your stats would be appreciated!!!
My stats at the time of application:
SAT I: 2320 (800 M, 800 CR, 720 W)
SAT II: Math II (800), Chem (800), Bio M (800)
Unweighted GPA: ~95/100
Rank: ~10/100, but school doesn’t rank officially
AP (place score in parentheses): Chem (5), Bio (5), Human Geo (5), APES (5), APUSH (4)
I didn’t include most of my contest results on my applications due to the lack of space, but some of them were Cayley perfect score, Top 3 in Michael Smith, Top 20 in Fermat, Top 100 in NACLO, Top 100 in NBC
@orchidBloom thanks! A couple questions, what kind of extra curriculars did you list, and if you do not mind sharing, which ivy league did you get into?
probably harvard yale princeton :3 his stats are amazing @epiclyawesome11
Ahh sorry, I was off CC to focus on finals.
The ECs I listed were:
-A somewhat obscure sport (3-12), 20 hours/week, have competed internationally
-A science olympiad (10-12)
-DECA (10-11), Won at ICDC in 11th
-Started HOSA chapter (11-12)
-Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award (9-12)
-Volunteering (7-12) ~600 hours
-Paid research assistant
-Math Club co-president (10-12)
-Equity Committee (9-12)
I got into Yale (now attending), Penn, and waitlist at Princeton (turned it down).
@OrchidBloom - Do you know a lot of Canadians at Yale?
I think I read somewhere that there are around 10 Canadians per year attending.
Hi, I am wondering what people think would be best for my son’s chances for attending a very elite US University: finish at the top of his top-ranked private school in Western Canada (a school that is not that well known in the US) and then apply, or first attend a top-tier boarding school in New England (Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, Groton, Hotchkiss) in grades 9-12? He is a top student, very strong ECs, good athletic accomplishments but not elite. Only about 5 or students from his school apply to elite US schools every year, their acceptances are strong but the school is not that well known south of the border yet. Thanks for your advice.
@TripleCrown33
What you did is called thread hijacking and you are not going to get anything helpful this way. All you do is make threads and the forum messy.
Ok, given it is a thread about Canadian-Ivy League prospects I thought it may be relevant. I am a Canadian who attended the Kennedy School at Harvard, and will seek a more friendly discussion thread.
@TripleCrown33 All you need to do is start a NEW thread with your inquiry.
@TripleCrown33 no, this is a thread where those “interested in sharing their stats” who have gotten into these schools to share. Not about " canadian-ivy league prospects". All you have to do is start a new thread, and not hijack an old thread. This is especially important so that when other people in the future look to this tread, they find relevant information, not thread hijacking.
