Hey all,
I am currently a student at a well regarded public suburban high school that sends kids to top colleges yearly.

I am not a US citizen and it is likely that I will move to Canada next year. My question is, does Yale consider canadians to be international students or part of the domestic pool?

I have tried to look it up on the internet using google, but I wasn't able to find it on the website. :/ They use the same FA form, but they might do it differently..

I think Yale treats canadian citizens under the need-blind financial aid policy.

Now if you are asking strictly about admission (need or no need) then, I think no, Canadians are not considered part of domestic applicant pool. Otherwise, there would probably be a higher Canadian applicant acceptance rate (last I saw a post on CC was that schools like Yale accept about 5 canadians - but CC isn’t exactly a 100% reliable source). I could be wrong about this.

Thanks for the responses guys! Yale is sort of unclear about this, so I was a bit confused. I knew about FA, but the admissions policy seems unclear. I’m just starting my college search, so I have a bit of time.

Five? There’ll be more than five dudes recruited for the Hockey team alone! no kidding!

Here’s a funny story for you. When I was an undergrad, I was a Cdn citizen (Permanent resident status though). I needed an easy class (nicknamed “guts”) 2nd semester my Junior year beause the rest of my load was tough. There as a new class called “Politics and Govt of Canada” by a visiting lecturer.

The ease of the course quickly spread and by the 2nd or 3rd day, the class was packed – including what must have been half of the Varsity and JV hockey teams! Of course these guys were Canadian and the class was probably akin to something they took as eighth graders! The class was referred to as “Canada-Gut”

In summation: looking for an easy class? See where the hockey team congregates!
