Hi. i'm new to the boards, so sry if there is another Canadian board around here.

so.. i guess we should just share info about stuff? well i'm in Calgary, going into grade 12 next year, good grades but not in I.B. , ok ec stuff, want to get into good american uni for business major.

I'm going to be in grade 12 and I'm also in Calgary. I'm mostly applying to Canadian universities, but I'm checking out a few in the states (ie. HYPS) mostly to see if I could get in, but also because it would be cool to go to there. I think I have a good chance - full IB, good ec's/grades, well-rounded-ness in general.

It's cool that you want to go south, but you should check out Queen's, Schulich, etc. They are reputed to have great business programs (and they are a LOT cheaper... US education can get very pricey).

I'm going into grade 10 (so I really shouldn't be worrying about college apps yet...shrug). Also an Albertan. I'm taking honours/AP courses. Right now I'm looking into some of the BS/MD programs in the US, but unless I get a major scholarship/financial aid, I'll most likely go to a Canadian university (a lot cheaper, as cowgirlatheart has said).

I am going into gr12.living in BC..mainly looking for ivies and top20 etc if there is enough FA...yes..like upstairs...I too may be going to a Canadian school such as U of T or McGill....but do ur best...!!

Going into gr11, from Toronto. No AP/IB. No enriched. Looking for business/econ/engineering... need aid, 7/8 ivies are need blind to canadians (stupid brown)
Will only go to U of T if I don't get into any Ivies/MIT

ya, i'm thinking of uni of southern cali, NYU, or ivies, or good top 30 uni for business. Of couse, if i don't get into any of them, i'll stick with Queens or UoT

Ya I did. They have a great co-op program for their students too. I'm going to try to see if I can get some scholarships for it. (Don't you just love my modesty ;)...)

The only reason I don't like it is because I hated the attitude of those kids. I went to a comp sci program at UofT this past summer and all the kids talked about was either a) electronics or b) politics (I'm talking hardcore martyrs).
I was like ***, who the hell cares? I'm only *surmising (because of Waterloo's nature and its supposed engineering focus) but I don't want to take any chances. Couldn't even stand 3 weeks, not to mention 4 years..

I prefer UofT because of its proximity to my house (so that I can commute) and its liberal arts availability

i heard waterloo is easy to get into. my friend, who is going to NYU this year, and who is also a user on these boards, got like a 2000$ scholarship to waterloo... and he didn't even apply for it

I live in Edmonton, Alberta (quite a few Albertans here! anyone from Edmonton?). Going into gr. 11, full IB, ok grades, ec's, etc. etc. Well, technically, I am not a Canadian cuz I am on a student visa here (meaning I am a foreign student,,,from korea by the way)

gonna apply for ivies/MIT/Caltech and a couple Canadian universities.

I'm going into grade 11. I'm from Stony Plain (almost an edmontonian! I practically spend all my time there anyways). My list of EC's is pretty good and concentrated so nothing too open ended, good greads (honour roll) etc. I'm planning on attending the U of A as a poli sci (international relations and canadian politics)student. I might apply to some ivies if I end up writing my SAT's, or maybe I'll see if I can get in without them.
Anyone else into poli sci, or the U of A?

oh heck yes i'm into poly sci. i'm starting a poly sci club at my high school next year. hopefully i'll be able to get raphie/dave broncon/harry chase as guest speakers.
