Everytime I turn on the TV, I see ads going against the Liberals. Yes, the Liberals have failed to keep many of their promises after so many years, but they haven't DESTROYED Canada.

But I do think Harper is Bush in Canadian form.

What I really dont like is how people don't take the opportunity to VOTE!

VOTE PEOPLE VOTE! PLEASE! Even if you don't like EITHER party, go out and SPOIL your ballot please. If you spoil your ballot, then the "winning" party, can't exactly claim to have "won". It's a tough idea to follow, but anyway, exercise your rights!

Does anybody know what Harper's stance on Quebec & its potential separate future from Canada is?

Ironically, I completely agree with you. About Harper, the safe-injection sites, gun policy.... yes yes and yes. I really, really hope he is not elected. I really don't know what we'll do, or what Canada will become..

But I think I love Canada too much to give up on it. Not that that's what you would be doing, by any means, by leaving for the States. Since you're also in Van, I don't have to tell you about our mild climate (even if it does rain, where else in Canada can you wear light clothing in March?) and lovely proximity to the mountains and the ocean and.. ah, I love it. Even if I went somewhere else in Canada, I'd still love the environment........ the natural, social, AND political environment. and i really want to be part of and fight for all of those.
Again, not that I'm assuming you don't, at all, by wanting to go to the States. For myself, I just know I couldn't leave permanently, and if I did go to the States for university, I'd have to visit often :). Part of what makes me want to stay in Canada are the differences that you already mentioned: the fact that I think we're progressive enough to even bring UP a safe injection site (whether it was passed or not), our gun policy (although I'm not sure about Martin's 'handgun ban'... if you're going to ban guns, have a solid campaign without such gaping loopholes. my opinion..), and MOST IMPORTANT to me............ our international policy and the fact that, for the most part, we actually have separation of church and state.

wow this is off topic. haha. ANYWAY.........

I wasn't able to find very much information about Harper's stance on Quebec on CBC or CTV. What I did find, was that Harper is promising to give Quebec more powers/independence in Canada and in international affairs. For example, Quebec would play a role in international institutions, such as UNESCO.

I would vote if it weren't for the fact that I'm not old enough :(

Yah. Vancouver is really awesome. The only other place just as great that I can think of would be California.

But lately, the rain has been horrible. I think I've only seen the sun for about...oh..10 minutes this year? Sad, sad. Actually, Vancouver does have a mild climate, but it's absence of sunshine during the rainy seasons is actually horrible for our health and leads many people to acquire seasonal affective disorder. But ANYWAY....

What a weather rant eh. Haha.

Anyway, blueberry: I read your post about your "chances", and I encourage you to go for the states if you''re truly passionate about it and not just applying for prestige. Too many people do that and it's horrible. A friend of mine did that and he hates the school he's at now (The Big H, in fact). Anyway..going to watch the OC!!!!!

I FORGOT ABOUT THE OC. OH CRAP.
HERE I GO.
...sometimes i question what kind of fan i am. although it has been sucking miserably lately.
THANKS so much for your response to my 'chances'. i guess its mostly for prestige.

Petaling: Quebec sovereignty is good ??? Chinese 2nd language??? Are an f***ing idiot??? I don't care whether you are joking or not, but PLEASE THINK before you say crap like that so you won't make yourself look like a moron

And to whoever said harper was bush: you're wrong

dooit,you are the idiot incarnate.
Mandarin will be the language of bussiness by 2050.
Hindi will be by 2100.
Hopefully,by 2050 Canada will become part of USA.

Viva la France,Viva Quebec independence,i dont want to pay taxes to support you forever,GO QUEBEC GO,

LOL? Canada a part of the US? Seriously, shut up. You offend me. I will say this once again: THINK BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING. YOur comments are so retarded that I don't know where to begin.

-Just because Mandarin may become the secondary language TO english in the business world doesn't mean it should become a secondary language in Canada. However annoying it may be, French has been part of our culture since confederation.
-You have no support for your Hindi comment.
-I don't even know how to debunk your retarded USA comment. While you are at it, why don't you say the world is flat.
-WHAT THE **** DOES FRANCE HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? QUEBEC IS NOT FRANCE.
-If you can't speak French, don't bother imitating it. You are only making yourself more retarded than you already are.
-SUPPORT ME FOREVER? YOU ARE A IMMIGRANT. LEARN TO RESPECT A COUNTRY THAT PROVIDED A HARBOUR FOR YOUR FAMILY.

Just for the record, I'm Chinese-Canadian. You are a disgrace to this country and all chinese immigrants here. Please just st.fu
