Cancel ACT scores or Prepscholar thing on Deleting?

Hi everybody,

I took the ACT for the second time today. My last composite was a 34.25 so greed got the best of me and I decided to try it another time to boost my science score which was weirdly a 33, and my essay which was a 29.

I’m pretty sure I did abysmally on the test. In that I’m like around 75% sure that my composite will go down.

I’m not sure how much down but I’d say anywhere from a 30-33.

I’ve taken the SAT 3 times already so I don’t want to take that anymore for fear of stanford labeling me as a test grubber. My SAT scores were a 1490, and then a 1530 with a perfect on the essay. I’m awaitng my last set of scores but I could go >=1530, not sure.

So here’s my question- should I cancel my scores? I know this may seem like a humble brag but I’m honestly not trying to do so. I’m just worried schools will see the score drop and judge me accordingly.

2nd Question- If I do score badly, should I retake or just stop testing? I’ve already taken 5 standardized tests, I don’t want to be seen as a kid overtly concerned with testing (though I admit I am little bit right now).

Last question- Is this legit?

My desired schools are the ivys, MIT, Georgetown, or Stanford (#1).

Thank you guys, You all are awesome, and I so so appreciate that help.

No offense, but you’re the typical representation of a “test grubber”. C34.25 and you took it again? Why? That’s more than enough for Stanford or any college.

The 3 SATs you took are permanent record, so you can’t delete any of them.

But… the ACT tests you can permanently delete. So you might as well wait for the results to come out before you decide if you want to keep or delete them. Now that you know, happy test grubbing!

I can’t believe anyone would retake a 34. Was there kne section that was noticaly lower than the others? And since when is there an decimal point in an ACT score? Never seen that. Delete the new test permanently.

I think OP had the right reasons for retaking as the first time I took the ACT I got a 32 because I got a 28 on the science, which I had consistently been scoring perfect on in practice. So after a little studying and brushing up on the English I retook it and got a 35. I feel that you should take the test twice even if you get a high score because there is always the chance of raising the score which can only help.

@lindagaf I was just trying to show (you guys) that I was very close to a 35. Like for example it’s based on averaging your four section scores right so I wasn’t getting like a 33.5, I was essentially .25 off a 35 which is (or was) my stopping score. I was told to shoot for the 75 percentile, that’s all this was to accomplish as the majority of schools I want have the 75th percentile at 35.

@yellowjeans I took Math2, Math1, Bio, and Chem. I got a 780 on Math2 but retook and got a 800 (for MIT), 800 on bio, 800 on math1, unsure about chem but expecting 700+.
Thanks, that was the plan. To wait for the score and if so then get my counselors involved and get them to wipe it from my transcript. I emailed the ACT people about not sending that score to my HS, but I doubt they will follow through so ill probably end up going through school.

My summer is very, very packed with ECs that heavily fit me and stuff I love to do. I’m spending it doing stuff im passionate about. I don’t think my summer involvement will be a problem- it’s pretty all-encompassing.

@undecided3494 thanks :slight_smile:

@mmk2015 okay dude, I appreciate the advice.

Alright people scores are in: got a 32. I knew it. Did worse in every subject. I live in Texas so there isn’t any state wide testing, so delete it I assume? Ill get into contact with my district as soon as possible, and school comes back into session.
