So, do you guys think I should cancel my scores and give the SAT another go in December since I'm only a Junior? I'm pretty sure I got a 800 or close to it in Writing and Math, but probably got 650-740 on the CR. I know I can do better on the CR, this one really tripped me up. So should I cancel this score?

NOOOOOOO!!! If you are only a junor, colleges will be impressed that you are even taking the SAT in october…most don’t take it until May or June. Besides, why would you cancel a test that you think you got an 800 on? That’s a great score! A 650-740 is also pretty good! Even if you think you can do better, don’t cancel - just retake the test later. Most colleges superscore so if you get an 800 M or W this time but don’t next time you can use those numbers. Great work!

Score Choice. Never cancel it’s stupid.

Some (most) of the colleges I want to apply to want all the scores. I just think if I send in an 800/800/700 (and it could be worse than that) and then maybe a 800/800/780, it will look like I’m obsessed with testing. Flip it around and if I don’t retake and send the 800/800/700, I’d be at or below the 25th percentile for the CR at many of the colleges I want to apply to.

/Damned CR.

They may WANT all of the scores, but they can’t do anything about score choice. It’s a wonderful thing.

^clinegirl.

Colleges don’t care when you take it.

^12979…

If this is your first try, don’t cancel, especially if you got near perfect in math and writing. You can take it up to three times (without it being too much) if you have to send all your scores in. Besides, they superscore.

^Tilgaham.

I think its safer to do what the school says. They may find a loophole in catching people who don’t abide by their rules.

While you might not care, I take that thing I sign at the bottom of the application VERY seriously. I’m not going to lie to a college in order to get in. That said, I’m probably not going to cancel as you guys said. Hopefully colleges won’t be like, “Wow. He’s test-obsessed. Reject.”

as long as you don’t take it more than three times, you won’t be considered test obsessed
