Hi guys, I took the sat today but I ran into some trouble. Basically I had a proctor with a very thick southern accent who spoke very quietly, and I didn’t hear them announce that we could move on to section 4 of the test. So I was sitting there going over my section 3 math answers and wondering when she would let us know when time was up and we had to move on to the next section(I didn’t have a watch and the clock wasn’t working in the room I was in so I was really banking on my proctor to let us know when intervals of time where passing like 20, 15, 10 min left) but i looked over at someone else and noticed they had a calculator out despite section 3 being a no calculator section. So I raise my hand and my proctor comes over and I ask her if it is time for us to move on to section 4, and she tells me that she had told us to start that section nearly 35 minutes ago. I was really confused and freaking out, because I didn’t hear her say that and it didn’t feel like that much time had passed since I started section 3, but anyway she said I had about 20 minutes left to do what I could in section four, so I ended up guessing on a large portion of the 40mc and didn’t do the student generated response questions. I didn’t get extra time to do it, so I was left with all the guesses I made for that entire section, and now I’m wondering if I should just cancel my scores ? I’m going to retake the sat next month but would this poor math score mess up my chances of getting into some of my colleges?? My previous sat score was a 1270/1600 with a 680 on the reading part and 590 on the math section. I know that most schools do superscore anyway, and I have a feeling that I did better on this reading section than I did in may with my 680. So I’m wondering if it makes any sense for me to not cancel my test scoring from today in hopes of being able to get that better score on the reading section for when colleges do suoerscoring of my SATs. Am I crazy and should I just cancel my scores ??? PLS help me I’m really conflicted
Were you the only one who didn’t hear the instructions?
Apparently everyone else heard her but I was in the back of the room and I’m guessing that I didn’t hear her tell us to move on to section 4? I had trouble understanding her accent but for the majority of the rest I was able to understand her directions and I guess these ones just flew right over my head
^^
I’m not blaming the proctor I’m just saying that i didn’t hear the directions. But my main question is would it be worth it to go after the higher reading score that I think I got on this one even if it means having to report my very low math section score?
When are test scores due for your colleges. Will later SAT test scores reach them on time?
Well the next sat is in early December and the scores should be available by dec 23rd , and I’m applying regular decision to everything so most of the deadlines are Jan 1
do the colleges you apply to allow score choice? If yes, I will leave it and see the score. If not, I may just cancel it. You know you did get more time on Section 3 though.
Most colleges super score your SAT’s. This means you send all your SAT’s scores and they take the highest scores from each section and combine them to get your total score. But remember, colleges take a long time to process SAT scores. You may send them tomorrow but they will not look at them most likely for 3-6 weeks (depending on the college)
