can you cancel only one AP score while not canceling the others? if say im taking AP Bio, AP Chem and AP Physics B (a combination that I am most definitely not doing), can i cancel AP Physics but not the other two??

AP Bulletin 2006-2007:

Canceling a Grade

Canceling your AP Exam grade permanently deletes it--it cannot be reinstated at a later time.

It also says that you have to cancel the grade by June 15th. Otherwise, you will have to withhold it from your score reports to colleges if you don't want them to see your grade.

Lastly, I think it would be best for you to simply not take the exam. You will get a partial refund, and you won't have to worry about canceling.

lol, that asn't the question that was asked

Well, it says grade, not grades. There are quite a lot of students that take more than one exam per year. And, if it isn't like this, it would definitely be clearly indicated in the 'Score Cancelation' section (like it is with SAT subject tests).

okay, so just to clarify these many responses - you can cancel/not take a SINGLE exam and retain scores for ALL of your other AP's?

Yes. 10char

whew, thank you!

You don't send out AP score reports like you do SATs -- you just send the official report to the college that you decide to go to. On the application you can just report the scores that are good.

If you cancel your score, will it show "score striken" on your AP score report, or will it only say that if you withhold your score???

AtomicBomb22: apparently, if you get your cancellation request before a deadline, you will not have "Score Striken" on your AP score report

but another question: If you are in an AP course - let's say SPanish- will colleges look unfavorably if you cancelled/dont report your AP Spanish grade?

It depends. Top colleges consider AP scores during the admissions process (another means of quantifying applicants), but most other colleges do not. In this case, it will not affect you.

well, i plan on applying to "top" colleges (although the word "top" seems to be in heavy debate), so would you recommend i cancel the ap score at all (after taking an ap class)?

That's tricky. Is the grade you want to cancel in a subject that's relevant to your prospective major? If so, it could cause problems. However, if you want to be an engineer, for example, a 2 in Studio Art won't matter too much.

I'm not 100% sure about whether or not an AP score report will indicate that a score was withheld. If it doesn't indicate this, you shouldn't cancel your grade. There's always a chance that you will be pleasantly surprised...
