Cancellation of debt income,FAFSA

Swimcatsmom and Mister K you are correct. I erred when I said IRS would send the 1099. Yes, the lender on the debt consolidated 1st mtg (considerable funds used for non-real estate purposes) and the second mortgage lender (non real estate use) will each be sending IRS 1099’s for debt cancellation.

why skip a year? why not just send your kids to community college for a year? I go to USC and going to CC for a year was the best decision I ever made in my life.

^^

Transfer students often get lousy aid packages. USC is a rare school that gives good aid to transfers…most schools do not.

Twin Daughters are very close and adament that they attend the same school. Service academy is a potential option though they are unsure of the long-term commitment. Twins are good athletes and one or both may have scholarship options in their sport. We as parents are appreciative of the twins maturity in realizing that their IB studies commitment and devotion to their sport can open doors for them in these uncertain times.

Chances are low they would both get into the same academy the same year. I do know twins who did it but it is very rare.

We do understand it is a long competitive process. Twins are in conversation with the coach and are being encouraged to consider the academy. Both are planning to apply for summer session at the academy this summer. I noticed twins in the same sport were accepted at a different academy last year.

I can see that. I know a family that had (I believe) 7 children and 6 attended different academies (2 of them were twins at USAFA). The last got to go to a different school. :)
