Cancelling my SIR and going to CC instead

Hi. I accepted my admission to UCSC a couple days ago. But my family doesn’t like the idea of me having to spend so much to go when I could go to a community college instead and transfer. I want to cancel my SIR to UCSC but I haven’t found anything about it on their website so I do not know how to go about to do it.

Even if I were to just go to UCSC (planning on doing CS) , my parents would try to make me transfer after two years (theyre one of those parents who want expect a LOT from me) and they think that if I went to a community college I could transfer to cal or ucsd(my dream school) easier than if I did so from UCSC.

Although I love UCSC a lot, after a bit of research on the community college thing and how its a lot easier to transfer, I think I want to do that instead. How do I cancel my SIR? And is it really that hard to transfer from a UC to another UC? One of the reasons why I wanted to go to UCSC instead of community was because I wanted to have that college experience but I feel like that shouldn’t have influenced my decision to SIR so easily.

It is very difficult to transfer between UC’s. If you want to cancel your SIR you need to call the admissions office.
