Cancelling Scores

Two questions...I know for a fact that tomorrow I will be getting a 1. (I took practice exams, did horrendous-terrible teacher). So should I go ahead and cancel it?

Also, Can you cancel scores from previous years? (ex can I cancel the ap score next year instead of now). It says scores can be cancelled at anytime. If it helps im currently a rising junior.

Thanks
Here is the form for anyone interested.

Which exam is it?

haha probably should have mentioned…ap calc

What does it matter? Can’t you just send the scores you want to colleges? Or am I wrong?

I thought everything was sent, unless you pat $10 for withholding service. Plus my AP average would be impossible to pick up with a 1 or 2

For the time until the test, look at the practice tests, see where you went wrong. Just don’t give up and keep reviewing. Look on YouTube for videos if you don’t get a concept, other websites, etc.

I’m pretty sure you can cancel scores up until June 12th or something, so yes, take the test tommorow and if you still feel like you got a 1, then cancel it. But only cancel it if you are 100% positive that you got a 1.

yeah thats what I have been doing. Couldn’t I just wait to get the score then cancel it? What are the pros/cons if I wait till after june15th/I get my scores

You won’t have your scores by June 12th; in fact, you won’t have them by whatever date the deadline for canceling is. You’re pretty much bargaining when you cancel your score – you won’t ever be able to know what you got.

I’m in the same dilemma as you and my teacher, without directly saying it (because she didn’t want to be the cause of me cancelling my score, she didn’t want to encourage it, etc.), told me that if, after I take the test I still don’t feel confident, then to cancel it since my BC exam next year will have an AB subscore. I’m not sure if you’re taking BC or not so our situations may be different.

I know I get scores in July, but can you not cancel your scores at anytime (including previous years and after you get your scores). The application says you can cancel your scores at anytime…

I thought there was a deadline and that past that deadline, you’d have to resort to the withholding scores option, which involves a fee. I’m really not sure because I’ve never done it, but I guess I should find out.

If you’re a junior don’t worry about it… AP scores are self reported until you are actually accepted to college.

IE: I got several 5’s and one 2 and I just didn’t report the 2

canceling scores is mostly useless

@flyby Are you sure about that? I’m actually pretty curious about this. It was to my understanding that the only way these tests could hurt you was to put you out 85 bucks…?

@Wisconsgene: What did flyby say that contradicts your understanding? I must be missing something…

Wiscongene and flyby are in agreement, but I don’t think Wiscongene knows this.

… Hence my confusion lol

You don’t even have to send an official report until you decide what college you’re going to. Just don’t report it on your Common App.

Seniors - You’re accepted to college already, they will not rescind admissions on one bad test score.

Juniors - AP scores are self reported and you should not be sending an AP score report until your senior year, anyways. Just don’t mention it on your app, and don’t worry, AP scores have very little, if any, influence on college admissions, they just want to see you trying hard in the classes.

In summation, don’t cancel scores. College Board already steals too much of our money, don’t give them more.

No, I understood what he meant. Lol. The first part of my post was my asking for verification, and the second half was just my musing on what I had thought to be true.

It did not sound like that to me… :)
