does anyone know if there are offical candidate visit weekends? or if there is a contact that i can call?

There are 3 weekends scheduled in April. I noticed on the Admissions Directorate page that the applications are not open yet, but the dates are there.

would you mind posting the link, nothemomma?

It's at the usafa.af.mil website - under admissions directorate. The dates are Mon/Tue - April 10&11, 17&18 and 24&25.

I was there once two years ago... Amazing place. Only fell in love with it more. I knew i wanted to go before that but i KNEW i wanted to go then. I trust the same thing will happen if you go.

I want the next time i go to be appointee orientation...

By the way, I think you can visit anytime you want and even stay in a Cadet room. I don't know how it works, but I see visitors being escorted around going to classes and Mitch's all the time. My roomate hosted a prospect once, but he was a recruited athlete, so that might be different. Maybe somebody else here can tell you how to arrange such a visit. By the way, I'd be happy to host someone anytime, or for one of the appointee weekends.

I think it's different for recruits. If you get permission (usually from your AOC), you may be able to escort someone around, although it's harder to get permission for them to sleep in the dorms and eat in Mitch's. They can easily accompany you to classes, though, if you get your instructors' permission.

I hosted someone this past year for appointee orientation. It was a good experience. It was awkward though when I saw her during BCT when I was cadre for it (although she wasn't in my flight so I only saw her twice the entire time).

Also, it's a bit premature, but I'd be willing to host someone at appointee orientation when the time rolls around this coming year. The only issue would be hosting a male; that'd still work, I'd just need to find a male room for you to spend the night in (which wouldn't be too hard).

I see dudes walking around in civvies being escorted all the time. Usually on Fridays. But, you'll have to wait until January at least. I wouldn't mind hosting someone, it'd be kind of cool I think.

I know this doesn't really pertain to "candidate weekends", but it's kinda the same Idea I guess. I just got off the phone with the XC/Track Coach at USAFA, and I'm going to be going for a visit on Febuary 2nd-4th. They'll be flying me in on thursday, and I'll stay with a guy on the team in the dorms thursday night, then go to classes/"do cadet stuff" on Friday until the afternoon, then I'll go to this big meet that they have there and watch that on friday and do the same on saturday as well. I'll fly back here on Sat. Night. Sounds like a really fun trip to me!

Can you request someone to be hosted with?

Hmm, I'm not sure. I'm assuming if somebody went there that you knew, they'd let you. Why do you ask?

I was just curious due to some references in earlier posts.

Yeah thats what I figured. Anyways, I know a kid on the track team, I used to race him back in the old days, he went to HS like 20 minutes from me. He's gonna be a junior next year, maybe I'll stay with him.

Interesting, on top of my above post I had something in the back of my mind. I also know a cadet from a school about 20 minutes away I used to race in cross country.
