Candidate Visitation Program

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone knew what the Candidate Visitation Program was since I have just received a paper from the Naval Academy concerning that. Does anyone have any input of this program and how is it? Does getting this mean anything towards an appointment and do a certain number of candidates get this or do all? Thanks alot

Uddit Patel

P.S. if anyone is attending one in the next four months please message me. once again thank you

It means they see you as a viable, attractive candidate and you're being invited for a look/see. Congrats, it's a very nice, positive indicator moving things forward. Don't over-reach on it though. It's not an LOA or offer of appointment ...but lots bettern not beiing invited.

Do a search on this forum. There are literally hundreds of posts discussing virtually every possible twist and angle of CVW. And those are just from one BGO. (jk ;)) Seriously, lots of great information but if you want to know specific, definitive information, call the USNA Admissions Office and speak with yours or another admission counselor. They'll be happy to hear from you, and it's their job. Again, nice going. Enjoy and drink it in. It's a nice glimpse of real time on the Yard, very different from NASS.

I would add that: (1) you should make every effort to attend CVW if you can financially afford to do so, and (2) try to go as early in the year as you can. As spring approaches, things generally ease up at USNA in terms of what the plebes have to do, etc. Thus, what you would see in April is somewhat reflective of life at USNA but very different than if you visited today (or in the fall). Don't get me wrong -- still extremely useful -- but don't want you to think that what happens in April represents reality year-round.

On the flip side not being invited does not mean that you are not competitive. There are many candidates who are extremely competitive who are not invited to CVW. There is no rhyme or reason on who or why. If one is not invited many times you may contact your CGO and request an invite. If they have room, they will accommodate you.

I will be attending the weekend on April 16 - 18.
Is there anyone else attending the same weekend
