Rensselaer sent me a letter saying I have caught their attention and that I have been selected to fill out the candidates Choice app. The app skips over some parts in the regular. I looked it up and my test scores are in the low middle 50 and my Gpa is 3.4 uw. I'm curious to know if anyone else received this and if they just want my application fee of 70 dollars because it wasn't waived. Thanks!

I think they send the Candidates choice application to people above a certain score that would qualify to get in. If you have a good chance and you want to go to RPI, then use the candidates choice. However, it’s not something selective. I got one of those too because of my SAT :o

I also got one of those, but I ended up using CommonApp anyways.

It’s a bit late, but my understanding is that if you’ve expressed interest or visited the school, then you get a Candidate’s Choice application offer. (Our son got one, too, but used Common App, because all his info was already in there). I don’t remember if we got an RPI fee waiver.

Do Candidate’s Choice applicants recieve acceptance letters earlier than others? Has anyone received an acceptance letter yet?

Based on prior years, all RD applicants will get notified at the same time. Notification will be on-line.

The website now says March 9:

Good luck to your S!
