Last year, people seemed to know the day when the invites were going out–Wednesday January 29th.
I know the Olin admission portal says early February, but do we know anything more specific?
In an email from Charles Nolan dated 12/29, he states they were supposed to be mailed today and up on the portal Monday, but I haven’t seen a single reference to it anywhere, no FB post, no blog post. I hope someone can share some details.
Agreed, i’ve been awaiting this date (and the next three days, did a usps mail prediction) though it would be nice if someone could confirm that they had in fact been mailed. They say early February, which, reasonably, would include mailing during the last 2-3 days in January so it could be true, but it seems odd that the specific date completely stopped being published after a single mention.

Applicants: The portal (https://my.olin.edu/) will go live at 3pm today with status decisions!
If you can’t remember your login credentials, search your inbox for the Account Notification email from apply@olin.edu.
If you are unable to find your login credentials or they aren’t working, please email your name and date of birth to apply@olin.edu for assistance.
Well, that denial was soul crushing… Good luck to everyone at CW!
Wow, very happy with the news-if anyone else got February 20-21’st I look forward to seeing you at CW. Literally I got home and checked college confidential before learning of the date and time-the spontaneity is quite different from what I see elsewhere though if I keep getting good news from Olin I could learn to love it. Best of luck to everyone else, and I look forward to meeting all of the other amazing applicants.
Does anyone know how likely it is to get an invite if you’ve been put on standby? Not likely, I guess.
I think it might be more likely than you think, you may want to contact Mr. Nolan to confirm/show interest though id imagine they invite exactly 240 students to even out the dates but if anyone drops out you would be given their spot, and by now some people may have decided olin’s not for them.
The website says they were going to send out 180 invites. Not sure how many actually went out. My son received an invite for the second weekend. This process is so hard - I hope everything works out for everyone.
They indicated there was only 57 final spots this year due to 27 returning gap year students. Did that impact the number of spots for candidates weekend? How many standby did they have? Olin generally keeps close to a 50-50 male-female split. I wonder what the split will be of those remaining 57 spots and the split for the candidates weekends. Congrats to all who have made it this far!
Anyone who got an invite care to share his or her stats?
my daughter is very excited to be invited! she’ll be there for weekend II - 2/27-28
Sure, i’m new to college confidential so the format may be a bit off. SAT 2310 superscored from three times, M770 CR760 WR780, Class rank 11/400 gpa 98.8, ec’s Mock Trial Captain (2 year), Science Club Captain (2 year). Very involved in developing an engineering academy at my high school and working with an at risk student population as far as making the connection between engineering/academics and the real world.
@NotDone2015 the stats for candidate weekends are similar to the admitted class profiles. You can see recent classes here… http://www.olin.edu/admission/class-profiles/2017/ Don’t expect it will change much, it’s already pretty high 2200+ / 34 ACT median according the link.
My kid got waitlisted for CW. Does anybody have historical knowledge about the stats here? how many kids selected for CW decline the invitation? I assume those with EA to MIT, Stanford or the likes might decline but just want to have an idea to either encourage his hopes or not
We received an email today that Olin accepted 183 candidates for CW. Good Luck to all those who plan on attending.
